Aspire Art Auctions’ second online auction featured over 300 lots including contemporary works; multiples & editions and original works on paper; photography; traditional landscape and genre paintings, craft and decorative arts, and a collection of art books.
Contemporary art dominated sales, as the online platform attracts new buyers on the lookout to build up their collections with interesting and edgy works. Artists including Mary Sibande, Sam Nhlengethwa, Collen Maswanganyi, Kendell Geers, and Andrew Tshabangu, were snapped up. However, away from the brisk sales of contemporary work, more traditional artists including, Adriaan Boshoff, Errol Boyley, and Maggie Laubser also fared well.
